Glyfada is not really a village but more like a long sandbeach with facilities and a couple of tavernas. The beach is situated in the west of the island Corfu just below Ermones and Mirtiotissa. Behind the beach are the steep green hills. GLYFADA beach too is only reachable over a steep curvy road. At the beach there is a large hotel, which is named the Grand Hotel Glyfada, but besides this hotel there is not much for accommodation. During the daytime it can get quite busy with day-visitors, but in the evenings when these have gone it is more quiet. The beach is rather long and wide and it is a sandbeach. It is not very suitable for children because of the strong undercurrents in te sea and because of the fact that the beach at some places goes very steeply into the sea.
Glyfada beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag, is well organized and attracts people who like swimming and sea sports. Every summer there take part a beach volley tournament. You can do water-ski, jet-ski or rent a sea bicycle and have fun with your friends. Near to Glyfada beach, are found the golf course of Corfu and the Equestrian Club. In the same region is also found the Aqualand, the marine park that offers hours of amusement to every visitor
